What We Believe at The Hill

At The Hill, our foundation is built on the Word of God. We are a Spirit-led, Christ-centered church that values order, unity, and truth. We are committed to walking in love, equipping believers, and creating a place where people can encounter God, grow in faith, and serve with purpose.

The Trinity

We believe in One God in three persons—the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, fully true and applicable to our lives today.

  • We teach and reference the English Standard Version (ESV) and other solid, theologically sound translations.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

Salvation Through Jesus

We believe that salvation is a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ.

  • It is by grace alone, not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

  • We believe Jesus died, rose again, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe.

Baptism

  1. We believe in physical water baptism as a public declaration of faith, ideally beginning in young adulthood (as early as age 10) when the individual understands the Word of God and their personal decision to follow Christ.
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins…” — Acts 2:38

  2. We also believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Scripture. This gift empowers believers to walk boldly and operate in the gifts of the Spirit.
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you...” — Acts 1:8
“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” — Acts 2:4

The Gifts of the Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers believers with gifts for the building up of the Church (1 Corinthians 12). At The Hill, these gifts are exercised in order and under spiritual covering.

  • Healing – Prayed for by assigned leaders only (James 5:14-15)

  • Prophecy – Welcomed through leadership-approved voices (1 Corinthians 14:29-33)

  • Tongues – Practiced respectfully and with interpretation when public (1 Corinthians 14:27-28)

  • Visions & Prayer – Leadership receives vision for direction; prayer teams are assigned to ensure spiritual safety and order

Deliverance

We believe in freedom through Christ and that deliverance is part of the believer’s journey (Mark 16:17).

  • Deliverance is carried out in private or semi-private settings, never in a way that disrupts service.

  • A team of two males and one female (non-pregnant) is always present for accountability.

LGBTQ+ Community

We believe in showing love and grace to all people, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.

  • While we welcome all, we do not affirm lifestyles outside of biblical teaching.

  • We uphold marriage as a holy covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Romans 1:26-27).

  • We will always preach the full truth of Scripture in love and without compromise.

Alcohol

We do not promote the use of alcohol. We believe this is a personal conviction between the individual and the Holy Spirit.

  • “It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.” — Romans 14:21

  • “Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit.” — Ephesians 5:18

Halloween

We redeem Halloween as an opportunity to engage our community through Harvest Hill Day.

  • We do not glorify darkness, fear, or anything demonic.

  • Instead, we use the day for family fun, connection, and outreach (Matthew 5:14-16)

Spiritual Covering & Leadership

We believe in the value of healthy spiritual leadership and accountability within the body of Christ.

  • “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls…” — Hebrews 13:17

  • Our ministry is led by a team of pastors and leaders, guided by local and national voices that mentor and cover us in prayer and wisdom.

  • This covering helps us stay aligned with God’s purpose and protects the integrity of our ministry.
